When you’re ready to quit, fix the date and start committing to quitting! Make sure all your friends and family are aware, so they know what to expect.

Avoid Weight Gain

Remember that, as well as being addictive, smoking occupies your hands, so it’s best not to keep them idle, whenever possible. Puzzles or sketching can keep your hands and mind busy but almost anything will work, whether it’s knitting or portable video games.
If you find something new you’ll enjoy, while you quit smoking, the quitting experience will be a far more positive one, so it’ll help you to succeed with your quit smoking program.
Remove Smoking Related Items
If you’re serious about quitting smoking, you should remove all items related to the smoking habit, whenever you try to quit. Lighters, ashtrays and matches all need to go. Don’t have anything around that will bring up memories or temptations. It doesn’t matter what stop smoking method you use, you don’t need anything to remind you of the cravings. You can control how strong these craving memories are.
Drink More Water
When you feel cravings, drink water. Not only will this distract you from the cravings, it’ll keep your stomach full, which helps to stop you from feeling hungry. And, almost everyone could do with a little extra water, so it’s a good way of reminding yourself of the importance of your new healthy lifestyle, one of the best reasons to stop. I found this especially helpful.
Find A Stop Smoking Program That Works
Don’t think that there’s only one way to quit. Some people like to use patches, others use ‘cold turkey’ quit smoking methods. But, for me, the best stop smoking program was a little different. In any case, the right program makes all the difference.
It could be the difference between significant weight gain or none. It could be the difference between agonizing cravings or the occasional thought about the urge to smoke.
